And on and on.
On Monday I had oatmeal with brown sugar and cinnamon for breakfast. For lunch I had leftover corn salad from the picnic and an egg and cheese sandwich and part of Iris’s nasty apricot. I bought a little box of organic apricots from Trader Joe’s and they are not good but Iris likes them. For dinner we had stir-fry with tofu and some cake after that. I like weeks when there is cake...
party food
The rest of Saturday was dedicated to making food for Iris’s first birthday party. I ate lots of frosting. I had the leftovers from that not-so-good broccoli and sausage thing and it was actually better the second time around. For dinner, knowing we had a long night of cake baking ahead of us, we had grilled cheese and tomato sandwiches and salads-very quick.
On Sunday we had a fun party...
saturday
This morning Matt made French Toast with blueberries and coffee. He perfected something about this French Toast, but I wasn’t really catching on to what he was saying. But it was really good.
And now here it is 2:00 and I still haven’t eaten anything else. I’ll let you know how it goes…
Six Arms for dinner
We had dinner with three Prestons—Brooke, Gabe, and Jesse—at Six Arms and I had a hamburger and french fries and a Hammerhead. Matt spilled his Hammerhead all over my knees and the waitress brought him a new one, which I thought was very kind. I like Six Arms except I can’t really hear much; you’ve got to read lips at Six Arms.

This morning I had plain yogurt with strawberries and blueberries. The fruit had been a cutting board last used for garlic. If you’ve ever been tempted to add garlic to yogurt and fruit, I would suggest you reconsider. I also had some coffee.
Iris and I traveled to Safeway this morning and we received the usual comments about how cute she is. Hard to fault people for this, really....
lunch, dinner
Lunch was mediocre. Quesadilla (am I spelling this wrong? It’s giving me a red line) with leftover refried beans. And Iris’s leftover plums.
Matt and I had a beer and french fries at Murphy’s in Wallingford. I read recently that one third of the vegetables that Americans eat are one of the following: potato chips, french fries, or iceberg lettuce. I cannot remember the...
breakfast
We all ate breakfast together this morning, which was nice. Iris had a good night last night—six hours in a row!—so I was able to pop out of bed. Scrambled eggs, toast, strawberries, and water for all. Coffee for the grown-ups.
dinner wednesday
What we refer to “mexi-fest.” Tonight it was refried beans, various peppers, onions, cheese, whole wheat tortillas, which are so much better than the regular old flour ones. Why did it take me so long to know this?
Mexi-fest, you might notice, involves some packaged foods. Tortillas. Didn’t make those. Refried beans. Didn’t make those. I’m okay with that.
Is...
eat eat eat
Welcome to a record of what I eat. A year or so ago, I read about a book called, “No One Cares What You Had for Lunch: 100 Ideas for Your Blog”. Personally, I would love to read someone’s record of what they had for lunch. In fact, I would love it if you started keeping a list of things you eat in a place where I could read it. Think about it.
My primary purpose here is to...
