stealing cookies from the mouths of babes
This morning I had plain yogurt with strawberries and blueberries. The fruit had been a cutting board last used for garlic. If you’ve ever been tempted to add garlic to yogurt and fruit, I would suggest you reconsider. I also had some coffee.
Iris and I traveled to Safeway this morning and we received the usual comments about how cute she is. Hard to fault people for this, really. Wearing a child on your back elicits a surprising number of comments from strangers. Most comments are welcome, but few so welcome as the one we received this morning. ”Awww. Can she have a cookie?” ”Um….sure.” ”Just go over to that case over there. The big cookies in the middle are free for kids.”
Now, seriously. You think I’m going to give a huge chocolate chunk cookie to my baby? As I like to say in our home, “cookies are for mamas.” And what a surprisingly delicious cookie this was!
Joyce and Topher were over for lunch and I made a fritatta, a salad, and bread. I didn’t make the bread, but I cut it up and baked it too long. We also had some watermelon. Joyce brought some delicious-smelling banana bread that I haven’t tried yet. Chocolate chips, no nuts, just as I like it best.
